Last Call! Submit to Our Banana & Plantain Recipe Contest

March 30, 2018

A couple weeks ago, we announced our latest contest theme—bananas and plantains!—and the submissions thus far have been very apeeling. Hehe! But this is serious. Here at Food52, we like our competitions fierce. Which is why we’re checking in, giving a lil’ nudge, a string around the finger, to remind you: The deadline for submitting to Your Best Banana or Plantain Recipe Contest closes on Saturday, March 31 at 6 p.m.

You can scout out the competition at the recipe contest page. And for some extra inspiration, here are some of our beloved banana and plantain recipes already on the website. We’re looking for well-executed classics—and reinvented ones—sweet or savory, and any ripeness goes. Now, stop monkeying around and go submit!

What’s your favorite banana recipe? Tell us about in the comments—then go submit it!

Emma is a writer and recipe developer at Food52. Before this, she worked a lot of odd jobs, all at the same time. Think: stir-frying noodles "on the fly," baking dozens of pastries at 3 a.m., reviewing restaurants, and writing articles about everything from how to use leftover mashed potatoes to the history of pies in North Carolina. Now she lives in Maplewood, New Jersey with her husband and their cat, Butter. Stay tuned every Tuesday for Emma's cooking column, Big Little Recipes, all about big flavor and little ingredient lists. And see what she's up to on Instagram and Twitter at @emmalaperruque.

The first time I cooked plantains I used Damaris Phillips recipe, Enchalasagna. It was perfect.
