Julia Turshen’s Newest Cookbook Is a Love Letter to Leftovers

June  4, 2018

Really, what can’t Julia Turshen do? She’s written bestselling cookbooks, including an inspiring (yet accessible!) guide to activist cooking and, most recently, launched Equity at the Table, a website focused on giving creative women and gender non-conforming food industry professionals, especially POC and the LGBT community, a place to be seen. And now, she’s ready to make cooking even more approachable.

In her forthcoming cookbook Now & Again, Turshen has cooked up a love letter to what we all have sitting in our fridges—leftovers.

“Cooking for someone is the biggest gesture of love you can do,” Turshen says. “But I always cook more than I can possibly eat, and I love turning leftovers into something new.”

Since those leftovers have to come from somewhere, Now & Again will include a slew of Turshen’s favorite recipes, from holiday menus to weeknight go-tos, as well as her smart ideas for giving those meals a second life.

Small Victories is such a useful book with great, almost friendly, recipes with some of the very best headnotes ever. A real keeper and I am sure this next one will measure up.
