Thanksgiving is finally upon us!
After weeks of dreaming up different menus (with some help from a handful of our favorite chefs and cookbook authors), taste testing mashed potato techniques, and narrowing down our favorite roast turkey recipes, it's almost time to preheat the oven and set the table.
But even though we've gathered up some of our best tips and make-ahead dishes to make your Thanksgiving dinner smooth sailing from start to finish, there's always a chance that something might not go according to plan.
Fear not! Should anything go awry—be it your turkey or tablescape—or if you've got a burning question about a recipe you're making, our Hotline is here to save the day.
You're probably already familiar with how our Hotline works—simply post a question and someone from Food52 or our community of trusty home cooks will get back to you—but things run just a little bit differently in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. Here's what you need to know:
- We'll be staffing the Hotline from Sunday, November 18th (today!) all the way through Thanksgiving night. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (EST), except Sunday and Thursday, when they're 8 a.m to 8 p.m. (we have to cook dinner too!). Our co-founders Amanda and Merrill (aka, Turkey Day experts!) will be joining in the fun and taking shifts, along with Food52 editors and team members.
- Hit us with your best shot! Whether you forgot to defrost the turkey or ran out of sugar at the last minute, we'll help you find a speedy solution to all your Thanksgiving questions and conundrums. The best part: We'll answer all of your kitchen queries in 10 minutes or less. No matter what happens, we've got you.
But the Hotline isn't your only tool for Thanksgiving success. We want your holiday to be as seamless and stress-free as possible (and delicious, too!), so we came up with a few other handy resources you can turn to: The Turkey Whisperer, your new go-to guide for anything and everything related to, well, turkey; and Dear Test Kitchen, a brand-new video series where our test kitchen director, Josh Cohen, answers questions inspired by the Hotline.
