Don't contribute to the Pink Princess insanity. Aglaonema is beautiful, easy to grow and available. I got one from Lowes before the pandemic.

Now that small/miniature plants have become more available, I’ve been having fun making Kokedama, Japanese moss balls, for friends. Nurseries seem to be carrying more small plants that work well in them such as baby stag horn ferns and others.

I’ve had my beaucarnia recurvata ( ponytail) for 16 years. Sometimes I leave it in full indoor sun for months, without water ( when I leave town) and it thrives. When we lived in FL we had one that lived for 25 + years outside (died in a house / forest fire)
In a temperate zone it is outside till it hits the 40s and in full sun indoors all winter. We’ve had one of these since 1975. the one I have now was about three inches total and is now three feet tall. Another favorite is the ceropegia woodii, string of hearts. It doesn’t go so long without water. mine now is four years old. About two weeks ago I put some cuttings in peat moss and perlite and filled three pots. They’re fully rooted with new growth everywhere.

It's easy to fall in love with a beautiful plant. Yet many commonly available plants are very toxic to animals. If you have a plant nibbling pet a little research can save a lot of problems.

A few years ago I started putting my indoors plants outside during the summer. One November, I left them out thru the entire year, just bunched them together in a corner in the garden to keep each other warm. They acclimated and are thriving. They look so happy when the wind caresses them. I feel their joy. I should mention I’m in CA.

Houseplants are a part of the household decor I could never be without. Easy plants, difficult plants, trendy plants come and go. But adding some large, medium, and small plants to any room will always make it a little lux. (and cleans indoor air)

I still like the older plants like spider plants. Right now I have three and they all contain babies. Also the leaves are wider than the old ones. Wide green with yellow edges. Very pretty.
