Columbus Day is this Monday, and whether you have an extra day in the kitchen this weekend or not, pretend you have all the time in the world by whipping up something elaborate and labor-intensive. Croissants, roast chicken, homemade graham crackers -- every holiday deserves a treat, and this one’s no exception. Just don’t forget to read these links.

What a great post, I'm a huge fan of Manger and Smitten Kitchen, I found Manger through the latest Bon Appetit magazine which had a very nice article from Amanda Hesser herself about Friday night entertaining, I loved it, I read it while getting ready to have a dinner at a friends house two Saturdays ago, then the next day I read about Manger and spend six hours reading the site. I just made a dessert from this Manger blog post, the Teurgoule which bakes 8 cups of milk into some arborio rice with sugar and cinnamon for 5 hours at 300 degrees. I just took pictures of it, looks amazing, Mimi has some good ones on there.. I have also been pouring over my last purchase, the New York Times Cookbook since Friday, made the fried chick peas and the David Eyre pancake..yum.. I cant wait to read and eat through this book, I want to make everything and its so well written and put together.

It's been a great Food52 weekend for me, these blogs will be nice as a good finish. I apologize for the long post, I get too food excited!
