Can i put tortilla chips in a food processor and then use them to thicken a soup?

YES! Make sure iti s finely ground. It adds another level of flavor specially corn chips!

I make tortilla crema: ground corn chips, roasted ground chilis, some cumin, p & s, whole milk and cream; roasted tomato with corn chips thickener and garnish; and a NE seafood chowder some flour and ground chips as thickener. It works- simple tortilla chips or Fritos. Olè!

I don't see why not, the winning recipe for the chili contest uses crushed tortillas to thicken it. Under-salt your soup before you add them, then adjust the seasoning after they've had a chance to meld in.
