can you make the mashed potatoes ahead of time? Then reheat?

You can definitely make them a little bit ahead of time, though I would make them as close to the last minute as possible. On thanksgiving, I always make them a bit ahead and keep them warm in a double boiler. They're not as perfectly whipped and light after sitting a bit, but they are still very tasty!
