I have an issue with the spices , since I have no luck keeping them fresh after
using some of them only once . Any ideas regarding dry herbs instead ?

I'm not sure that i got the gist on your question,but...Love pea soup and I never use fresh herbs in it.What I do is fry some bacon bits till crisp and in the bacon fat I add onions and garlic.Mix that in the soup,fix the salt,add some black pepper and olive oil,and for the spices and herbs all I use is dried basil and cumin powder.Hope it helps.
Save some leftovers for tomorrow's lunch.
