A friend left a steak out of the refrigerator all night, probably about 12 hours. Throw away? (I told her, from experience, food poisoning = not pleasant).
Raw or cooked?
If it was left uncovered, I would toss it. But if the steak was covered the whole time, it should be fine. Also, if it was raw, just make sure that you cook it thoroughly.
That's definitely well into the danger zone. Unless your friend enjoys well-done steak, I think she'd better toss it.
I wouldn't chance it.
