I am making a fruit mostarda and the recipe calls for Essenza Di senape, which is mustard oil. Anyone know where I could buy or what I can substitute

This is one of the two threads I came across while searching for this 'essential' ingredient to make Mostarda di Cremona. It seems there is a huge amount of misinformation floating about on the web about this. I finally found a source of the real thing on eBay and posted a new thread on the subject:

It's actually mustard essential oil, which is different, and somewhat dangerous. But it does make the best mostarda.

Thanks I'll check the Indian specialty shops here in Montreal.

Mustard oil is available for sale in the US but the FDA doesn't really approve of it for consumption, although it's commonplace in Europe. Here it's labled "for massage use only". So you can make your own decision. It's available in Indian specialty stores and upmarket spice shops like Kalyustan in NYC.
