That's funny, Jennifer, I googled just to be sure and the results I saw said that is WAS the same! Hence the value of asking the hotline, I suppose!

Israeli couscous is not small and rough shaped; it is round and 'large'; here are photos:

No they're actually different. Pearl couscous is larger and round and Israeli couscous is smaller and rougher like sand.
