I need a sturdy (but delicious) frosting that will keep layers for Naked carrot cake?

I am baking a 6 layer naked carrot cake. I want it to look beautiful, and for the layers not to wobble with the weight. Any suggestions for a delicious frosting that also looks great.

I would think a slightly firmer than usual cream cheese frosting would be not just tasty but also provide structure. The cake's strength could be improved by slightly chilling the layers. Perhaps add some things like chopped nuts, dried fruits, etc to the icing as an aggregate, if you will?
