If I want to reduce the amount of sugar in a cake recipe by 1/3, do I need to make up for the volume? If yes, with what? Thanks!

The cake is a single layer, recipe calls for 1.5 cups of flour and 3/4 cup sugar. Liquid is 1 cup of orange juice, 1/4 cup of oil.

Can I have a bite?
