Kumquats in brandy

I made a recipe for brandies kumquats, poaching the kumquats in simple syrup, then mixing the cooled simple syrup with brandy (I used cognac because I had no brandy) and poured over the kumquats. The book I used is old. Are they ok like this at room temperature?

Yes, the sugar and alcohol act as a preservative. But keep them away from light.
