sounds like you already solved it. for future lack-of-Worcestershire crises, Asian fish sauce is a fine substitute, as it's often or usually 100% made from anchovies.

In Canada, I had almost the best Caesar salad ever (the best has to go to the one in Tijuana on my 16th birthday at Caesar Cardini's restaurant) in Canada. They used capers. The anchovies were two fresh white ones laying on top of the salad. Capers make a really good Caesar.

Thanks so much! I actually used a mortar and pestle and grinded down garlic capers peppercorns salt lemon and olive oil with some dashes of worchestershire. Yummy!

Delighted it worked. Sounds like a good dressing.

Yes, you can. Though you can leave out anchovies. The original Caesar salad recipe didn't have anchovies. Also, if the dressing has worcestershire sauce, there's anchovies in it.

According to the inventor's daughter the anchovy flavour came from Worcestershire Sauce, not little fishes. So if you have n anchovy, then try that. If not, capers don't truly substitute but it should still taste good, which is what matters.
