I made a stew and froze it, then heated it for a dinner party. I've got lots of leftovers - can I safely refreeze them?

Have done many times. Potatoes will get a bit mushy on thawing. Due to this and the time consuming task of browning the meat, we'll plan future meals by completely browning and braising a large batch of meat, completing the stew with all the onions, garlic and celery, maybe half of the carrots but no potatoes. Then we freeze up batches of this stew base. In the future we defrost, add potatoes, carrots and some liquid, then let the whole thing simmer in oven until meal-time.
