i agree with C Sangueza but make sure it is not too hard. I find it needs to def. be room temp so it incorporates better. If you melt it don't add it too hot. and know there is more "water" in butter.

Yes you can. Yeast breads are pretty flexible, you can use whatever fat you like, although the flavor will be influenced by your choice.
