do I have to seal jam if I will be eating it within the next few weeks?

You only need to seal the jars if you want to preserve it for several months. If you intend to use the jam in the next weeks, just put it in a jar with a lid and keep in the refrigerator. If you give any away, though, be sure to tell the recipient to keep the jar refrigerated and use it soon.
