So odd. I'm in the PNW and needed a couple of leeks for clam chowder. There were only two rather scrawny leeks left. I asked the produce guy and he said he ordered them, but got none. He knows of no shortage. I grabbed the scrawnies and added a big shallot.
They are abundant here jn the Southwest, but I have noticed that every now and then (usually when I really need them) they just disappear for a week or so.
