can i put raw scallops in mac and cheese before baking?

Scallops are my most favorite food and that doesn't sound appetizing even to me. I would sear them and top the mac and cheese with them. Although I don't like cheese with scallops.

Cooking separately and serving on the side or even as a topping for the mac and cheese( a la lobster) would seem a better idea.
