The dressing from Amanda's Radish and Pecan Grain Salad may be a good fit, and sounds much more interesting.

A favorite wild rice salad that I used to make all the time has a dressing of orange juice, canola oil, red wine vinegar, worcestershire, parsley, garlic, black pepper, orange zest and sea salt. The salad also has red onion and dried cranberries; it is really good!

You could ditch the cranberries and make rice vinegar based dressing with a clean tasting vegie oil, and add Mandarin Orange slices and a touch of sesame seed oil. (just a touch, a back note).

I would add lots of freshly chopped parsley, Meyer lemon + zest AND a teaspoon of orange zest + a some fresh orange juice + some diced Persian cucumbers. Or, I'd do the recent winner Mujaddarah yogurt sauce + the cucumbers, and I'd do it even with the salad dressed as is. A bit unconventional, yes, I know. ;o)

I love this rice salad by Philippe de Vienne here in montreal. It's made with wild rice, fuji apples, pecans, celery and spring onions. The dressing is:
• 3 T rice vinegar
• 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
• 1 tsp fine tamari or soy sauce
• 3/4 tsp pf each of the following: coarsely ground pink peppercorns AND white peppercorns or black pepper corns
• 3 or 4 cardamom seeds, finely ground ( I used a mortar and pestle for all spices)
• 3 T Maple Syrup
• 1/3 c mild oil--canola or sunflower

I've made a similar wild rice salad (no peas or cranberries) with a dressing that used: olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, basil, roasted garlic, thyme, black pepper, paprika, and a dash of dry mustard. A quick shake of Worcestershire sauce might be a good addition as well.

Oops - the new pickle format cut me off - here's the rest of the question:
Salad ingredients continued: ...,peas, dried cranberries, celery & green onions). However, I didn't feel that the dressing added much (olive oil, sesame oil, red wine vinegar.) What dressing would you recommend?
