Should be OK. The texture may come out a bit different- home ground almonds are generally coarser. You could also lose some freshness, as once they're ground they go stale much faster. The same is true of slivered almonds, though- some writers recommend using slivered almonds to grind for some reason, maybe to do with the sort of grinder they're used to; whole almonds will generally be fresher and cheaper.
