What type of muffins get buttered?

(I tried to post this earlier but had to make an account so excuse me if this is a repeat post) so I’ve been hearing the phrase “that really butters my muffin” and I asked myself “what muffin even gets buttered??”. I’ve never put butter on a blueberry or chocolate muffin, so I’d like to know if there’s some sort of savory dinner muffin you’re supposed to butter. Does anyone have a recipe because I’d like to try it?

If you have not experienced a warm homemade blueberry muffin with a bit of butter on it then you need to add that to your bucket list.
Of course all English muffins need butter, toasted bran muffins, corn muffins, and any overtly “healthy” muffins.
There actually are plenty of savory muffins recipes if you look for them, zucchini and cheddar are a popular combo

I've never heard of not buttering a muffin! Split, spread with a dab of soft butter and jam, eat. If day old, toast them first. Blueberry, corn, cranberry, all are better with butter.

Old saying...my mother would say that if she was angry at something or someone.
Today it probably has another meaning.
I butter blueberry muffins. There is no wrong or right.

There are quite a few 'food' related sayings. Another favorite of our mom, "That really frosted my cookies!"
Meaning..."that really annoys me." I use, "That's it in a nutshell!"
This would be an interesting topic to elaborate on Food52 writers. Anyone?

I have never heard anyone say that, expect in the movie Mean Girls, and I'm pretty sure explaining that reference is against Food52's code of conduct.

Ha! Thanks Ttrockwood, I feel validated in my initial interpretation of this question. I seriously could not tell if it was real; I even called my sister to ask her opinion. This question is my new favorite hotline question of the running list I have in my head.

Anyway, muffins as uhm, food (trying to be my best self here). Bran muffins go great with butter, especially if they're not overly sweetened.
