Why 52?

In honor of "52 Day", does anyone know why Food 52 is Food 52 rather than, say, Food 47 or Food 3.14159265358979? There seem to be a lot of possibilities.

I have wondered about the 52 thing as well.
Thanks for asking Smaug. Maybe it should be the recipes that are written for high altitude. Or the number of ingredients that are available OUTSIDE of New York.....

Food365 would have worked if Whole Foods didn't already use 365 for their house brand.
Personally, I like Food52, guess I always knew it meant 52 weeks.

Hi there,

Thanks so much for your question! We chose the "52" as we cook 52 weeks a year. :) We wanted to create a place for others who do what we do all day long: talk about food! If you want to read more about how we got our start, you can do so on our About Us page (link in the footer down below).

Thanks again for reaching out—happy cooking!

Warmly,
Food52 Customer Care

Well that's boring. Like a National Enquirer headline, it probably would have been better to leave it as grounds for speculation.

And now you'll have to bear burden of your newfound knowledge for the rest of your days...
