I think I'd look for another recipe (of which there are plenty); seems to me the lemon flavor is pretty central to the dish. You can replace the acidity, but there's really nothing to replace the lemon oil flavor you get from the zest.
Yes, its a good combo but it doesn't matter if others like lemon with parmesan if you don't. Anna Jones is a fine cook and recipe developer. I've cooked and liked many if her dishes. If you don't want to use lemon, replace it with something else sour or acidic to maintain balance if flavours: orange, vinegar, sumac, dried sour mango.
