If I wanted to use a spice blend like Bell's seasoning, should I pair it with zest? And if so, which?

If yes, lemon and/or orange are both good (any type of each, even the small imported tangerines that are in the market now).
Stay away from grapefruit and pomelo...both too bitter for roasting a bird.
