Can the dried cherries be omitted? This is too much work for me. Or I can buy candied cherries that are quite moist.

Hi Liliana, yes, the dried cherries can be omitted, if you prefer. Or as Brinda suggests you can use dried cranberries, raisins or apricots.

Candied cherries in syrup don’t work since they are too wet. However, you can use candied cherries that are used for fruit cake that are not preserved in syrup. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Liliana, you can omit the dried cherries and the recipe would be successful, but you would be missing a flavor component. If you have something like dried apricots or dried cranberries or even dried raisins on hand, you can use those.

I would not use candied/glacé cherries here, as they are super wet and might alter the dough negatively, as you suggest! Hope this helps!
