I have a 14 oz. block of tofu that is frozen in one piece. Can I defrost and then slice it to use in this recipe or will it change the texture?

That’ll be just fine for this recipe! Since the tofu needs to be frozen either way it should be fine. Just make sure to press out as much water as you can after defrosting.
