I know this is an older post but maybe you will see this - my friend who bakes a lot of breads has an ankarsum mixer and LOVES it. If I were going to buy a new mixer that is probably what I would get, but I have an ancient kitchen aid K5SS that has been holding up really well. Which could be an answer too - watch cragislist and ebay for older kitchen aids - mine is from the 1980's. It was still owned by Hobart and had all-metal parts/gears which is no longer the case. A lot of the innards are plastic now and just are not as durable.
my 2 kitchen aids- used for 30 years in my catering business, never died. i would suggest that maybe you bought a lemon, and you should buy another, with guarantees.
Sile - same mixer or four separate ones Wow! Sympathies. Either way, bad luck and/or heavy use probably in play. If heavy use and you expect that to continue, consider a professional brand like Hobart.
