What liquid to sub for citrus?

I want to make this cake, however, I'm a "plain" flavor fan and particularly don't care for citrus. I'll turn down citrus pound cake but am all over vanilla or no added flavor ones. What liquid to make up the removal of GM & OJ?

Charlee, I'm glad you asked this question. I have often wondered the same thing myself. Are you adding vanilla or anything else?

This is just a guess, from having made several other olive-oil based cakes (but not this specific one). Possible replacements -
* just water (counting the OJ and liqueur as only liquid)
* clear fruit juice (no pulp) instead of the oj;
* liqueur of corresponding flavor instead of the Grand Marnier, e.g. Calvados for apple, kirsch for cherry;
* all one or all the other of fruit juice or liqueur.
By the way, if you want to eliminate citrus flavor, omit the orange zest. Or replace it with about 1/2 tsp of spice you like that will complement the new chosen fruit juice flavor.

Thanks, Nancy. I planned to omit the zest, just not sure about the liquid - other than knowing there needed to be some. LOL Water should serve nicely. I'll report the results once I actually bake it.
