Can I use other spices instead of ground mustard?

Is there a dry spice substitute for the ground mustard? I see someone used actual mustard but I like a dry rub and would love to use another ground spice if possible.

My experience with dry rubs is that there are many, many recipes out there and many of them include lots more spices than the one you ask about.

It won’t be the same flavor, but you could replace the mustard with a combination equal the same amount of garlic powder, ground cumin, cinnamon, a bit of chipotle, ancho powder, chili powder. The possibilities are really endless.

Agree with Happygoin.
If you don't want to wing it with the suggested good spices, look for a dry rub recipe from various chefs in Texas, Kansas City or other places known for their barbecues.

After I wrote my note, I checkec some of my recipes and they also used mustard. Which you could just omit.
But here's one tried and true, blended from the start without mustard.
Enjoy, Nancy.
