Will frozen bananas work? I often freeze overripe banks to use later in banana bread but not sure if they’ll work here. Or do I need to use fres? here

I haven't made this specific cake, but I have made both banana bread and cake using previously frozen bananas. I freeze mine in the skins, and after they thaw, they slip from the skins nearly mashed already- so a bit less work. I've never noticed any difference between using them and freshly mashed ones. I seldom have more than one banana at any one time go to the dark side, and this way I can save them up until I want them for baking.
