Can I substitute milk for water?!

I saw in another video that you used milk, but I don’t see that anywhere in the recipe or questions.
Was that for a richer cake?

As the water here is used to make a simple syrup and poach the oranges, I wouldn't replace it with milk, which can curdle when cooked with citrus or give the oranges a muted taste.
If you want to add dairy richness to this cake, maybe serve it with whipped cream or ice cream.
Last, there is at least one Portuguese recipe for orange cake which mixes milk into the room temp batter and seems to work.

Oh gosh thank you. The video must’ve been for something else but it queued up after the original video. When I finally looked at the recipe I see there wasn’t any water in it. 🤦🏻‍♀️
But thank you!
My cake was a huge hit following the recipe. 😀
