Putting Whole Cardamom pods in cake
Are you supposed to do anything to the whole cardamom pods before you put them in the batter? I just put them in whole because and someone almost broke a tooth. Are they meant to be eaten or spat out?

If you make the cake again, use:
1) either already-ground spice.
2) Or remove the black seeds from the cardamom pods and crush them (mortar and pestle, other heavy object) or grind them (coffee grinder or similar).
