I am allergic to pork, can Crisco be substituted for lard in a recipe

Generally speaking yes but whether or not Crisco is the best alternative depends heavily on the specific dish.

Other options are butter, margarine (for some people), other animal fats (such as duck or goose), or some other vegetable fats (coconut oil is one occasionally used replacement).
