I never use a burger press. It makes more dishes to wash. My mother would make a handful of hamburger into a ball about 2 to3 inches round then pat it back & forth between her hands until a pattie formed. I could never do that. I take the same type of ball and smash it on a paper plate until desired thickness.
Two suggestions. • Spray or lightly brush inside of press with cooking oil. • Line press with waxed or parchment paper, which are also helpful for keeping patties separated in fridge or freezer.
