Missing the ingredients and method for making the biga.

How do you make the biga? Recipe calls for 200 grams of biga, but doesn't give ingredients, quantities, and method to make it.

When one encounters confusing or incomplete instructions on the Internet, the first thing to do is to see if they haven't been posted elsewhere.

It took me thirty seconds scanning through this author's recipes to find the biga instructions:

https://food52.com/recipes/35146-starter-biga-ricetta-di-base-base-recipe

which yields 300 grams.

This type of Internet sleuthing isn't specific to Food52 or even food recipes. It is applicable to any set of confusing instructions posted online: carpentry, knitting, Linux system administration, auto repair, whatever.

Best of luck.

Thank you. I easily found several biga recipes, but because they can vary, I wanted to use the exact one that the author intended in the recipe. I eventually found the author's separate post for the biga recipe. I just wish there had been a link to it in the article, as well as in the focaccia recipe.

The recipe hasn’t been tested or commented on so it’s hard to know. Here’s a recipe for biga from a trusted source. https://leitesculinaria.com/79243/recipes-biga.html

This is the focaccia recipe I use most often. https://food52.com/recipes/28786-saltie-s-focaccia It’s very reliable and halves easily.
