Should the pasta be added while hot or cooled down?

Combine while the pasta is still hot. It will absorb the flavors of the other ingredients better.

There's not enough heat in the drained pasta to melt the mozzarella completely. It will soften it up a bit which would be desirable and as you mix it will quickly cool down.
