Can I make this ahead of time?
Does it work well to make this recipe a day ahead of time? I want to have it prepared for a dinner party

Like most savoury stews or skillet dishes, it will taste even better after a day or two in the fridge.
I would make and serve the pasta just before serving.
As for the soft polenta, if you have time, make just before serving.
If not, make the polenta in advance, store in fridge, then grill to reheat.
