Substitute for McCormick’s Salad Supreme Seasoning

I would like to make this recipe but cannot find the McCormick’s seasoning listed in my grocery store. Is there a substitute I can use? What ingredients are in the seasoning mix?

I wouldnt consider it much of a loss. Most of those sorts of “seasoning” items are nothing but salt, additives & artificial flavors. I would use herbs and seasonings that you like especially during the summer when fresh herbs are available.

Yes to MMH's idea.
And/or use the ingredient list as a guide...usually ingredients are listed with largest volume first, so pick the first few ingredients and make your own. The paprika, poppy seed, a couple more in the beginning, then the Romano cheese.

As 702551 has said many times google is your friend - look to it for the ingredients & you will find what is there. I just did & I would never buy that stuff.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I live in Canada and on Amazon it will cost $36 for a bottle of the seasoning ☹️, so I’m going to have to try something else.

Look at the ingredient list at the product's webpage and compare it to products at your local grocers. Perhaps you will find something similar.

Like many Americans I have very little familiarity about what food products are available on Canadian store shelves so I am unable to provide any specific product recommendations.

However, the point about pleasing your specific dinner table guests remains regardless of where you are located.

Unsurprisingly a simple Internet search indicates that this product can be purchased from online retailers including Amazon.com.

As for the ingredients, they are listed on the product label. You can also view this information at the product page on the manufacturer's website:

https://www.mccormick.com/spices-and-flavors/herbs-and-spices/blends/perfect-pinch-salad-supreme-seasoning

FDA food labeling regulations do not require manufacturers to publish the exact ratios of those ingredients, but do require them to be listed in order from most to least (by weight I believe).

Naturally using a different spice mixture will result in a different flavor profile than this recipe author's concept (which is her grandmother's vision).

In the end, the purpose of cooking is to put food on the table that your guests will enjoy. So if you substitute the McCormick's product with something you prefer/have in your pantry, that might be a better end result than trying to replicate the McCormick's product with individual components.

Best of luck.

It's worth noting that the McCormick's website also has a "Where To Buy" store locator tool.

It's up to you to decide whether or not it's worth your time/money/gas to drive around town trying to locate this product.
