Good question, and I hope you hear something from Erin herself. The recipe calls for 10 oz of butter, which would be 2 1/2 sticks of the standard US 4 oz size. While that's not a lot of extra butter, and it shouldn't have a detrimental effect on the final cake product, it could give you a more pronounced butter flavor than a white cake usually has.
