I make homemade pies and after I freeze them the tops

@Donna - when you say you make the pies, does that mean make the crust and assemble, then freezer. Or make, assemble and bake?
Results from freezer will vary (better results from unbaked pies).

Why are you thawing them? Normally, a frozen pie would go straight to the oven.
