Yes to half the volumes. On time - check at 1 1/2 hours (half the minimum original time) to see if color and texture have developed as recipe describes in last two steps.
If not, continue up to the 3 hours (half the maximum time), checking at intervals.
OTOH. If you can get them and have space to store them, maybe make original amount, as they keep a long time in fridge or freezer.
