Is the shrimp cooked in the marinade?

Is the marinade discarded before the shrimp are broiled, or are the shrimp cooked in it?

Recipe instructs to grill or broil the shrimp. Which implies the shrimp is removed from the marinade because you couldn't cook in the marinade on the grill.
