Best way to freeze cookie dough

What would be the best way to freeze this dough (if at all)? I was considering assembling up to baking (with the jam filling) and flash freezing. Appreciate any thoughts!

I freeze my thumbprint cookies unbaked. Portion the dough, create the thumbprint, then freeze until firm enough to move to a freezer bag or container. They’ll thaw fairly quickly this way. Add the jam just before baking!

There is no ONE best way to freeze cookie dough...it varies by type of cookie (drop, shortbread, etc).

For thumbprint cookies, all I found was a way to freeze the baked cookies.

My opinion is not to freeze the unbaked cookies with the jam because baking them from raw frozen may be difficult - they will have different times in the oven (may result in under baked dough, or burnt jam).

I would choose either freezing them baked and with the jam, or unbaked dough only and add the jam just before serving.
