Before cooking rice in it for the first time, I would boil water once or twice in the vessel (throw water out, use on houseplants after cool, etc.). After that, it shouldn't need any special treatment.
Regardless of what the care instructions claim (I didn't read them), I would only hand wash this. I would never stick this in the dishwasher.
Typo: Kinto makes a Kokomo rice cooker, or vice versa. I just bought it from Food 52. It is ceramic, stovetop and oven, not electric. I think it might not need seasoning.
I couldn’t find a rice cooker called the Kokomo, but most rice cookers are nonstick inside, so seasoning would actually damage it. Is the rice cooker not nonstick?
