The recipe does call for arugula to be spread over the top.
It looks like the recipe author took some artistic liberty in garnishing with fresh fig slices. It's pretty difficult to source tasty fresh local figs at this time of year in North America so I'd probably omit unless I was making this in late summer/early fall and had some from the farmers market.
