A Week in Charleston, SC at the end of March

Our family of four (boomer parents and two adult children) will spend six days in Charleston, SC at the end of March with one car. We're curious to know where locals like to eat, shop and explore. Food markets, walking tours, history, an island -- what do you recommend? It's been a dozen years since Food52-er Cristina Sciarra asked a similar question, so I wonder what you think today. Many thanks for any and all thoughts!

I like Folly Beach too. I also like to eat at Hyman’s for classic low country seafood. If you are staying in a house, I know there is a company which will bring a seafood boil to you. Im sure you can find it on TripAdvisor.

There are also really good seafood restaurants across the bridge in Mt Pleasant.

Thank you, MMH, for both of your ideas. Duly noted. We plan to explore the area around the city, so it's great to have the names of eateries in Mt Pleasant and Folly Beach.

Two years ago, my cousin and I were in Charleston and we stayed on Folly Beach. It’s about 15 minutes from downtown and very…beach-y. We had an excellent lunch at Rita’s Seaside Grill. She Crab soup and local shrimp were outstanding.

Thank you, Happygoin! Folly Beach definitely seems worth checking out. Rita's sounds wonderful.
