Carlyn -
I have an old very helpful article on pairing wine with food,
For white wines, it recommends pairing any aged in oak with butter or foods sauced in it.
For whites not aged in oak, with any food compatible with lime.
Since Riesling is rarely aged in oak, I would first go for something in the lime-compatible group. Like ceviche, a salad with fish or an avocado dish.
However, Riesling itself falls into at least two major groups - the acid, or lighter fruitier ones. And the richer or sweeter ones.
Pair the lighter ones with the fish or avocado type dishes.
And the richer Riesling with a rich cheese or small serving of quiche as an appetizer.
Wishing you a lovely meal...

A few more ideas for pairing with the fruity, acidic Riesling- pork, Thai or Chinese appetizers.
