One great recipe is Pocket Rolls-http://www.food52.com/recipes/8330_pocket_rolls
I think you can experiment with this as a molasses substitute.

You can brush it on top of homemade pretzels to get that deep, golden brown color. You can add it to cake frosting for extra flavor. Use it to sweeten bread.
